The first church was built and dedicated on Nov. 17, 1933 at 2418 W. Mangold, with 24 charter members.
In 1960, land was purchased at 3800 W. Rawson Ave., and the cornerstone of the new church was laid on Oct. 21, 1962. The first service was held May 19, 1963, and the building was dedicated on Sept. 22 of the same year. Membership was 154, and swelled to 246 by 1970. During the rest of the 20th century, the church saw its membership ebb to a low of about 90 members in the early 1990s. A new parking lot and new landscaping sparked a period of growth and development for the church in the ensuing years.
Since the turn of the century, Faith's membership has grown an average of about five to 10 percent a year, reaching 147 members in January 2006. The church, as with its affiliation with Presbyterian Church USA, is known for supporting mission projects. Each year, the members raise or collect thousands of dollars for national and international appeals and support food pantries, meal programs for the homeless, Habitat for Humanity, and homeless shelters in Milwaukee.
The church offers a youth group, Christian education for preschoolers through adults, and holds services at 10 a.m. on Sundays and special worship days.
One minister, Rev. Sudalak Layraman, states: Our mission is to spread the word of God, provide for the needs of our community, and nurture all God's people for Christian discipleship. Our worship services are informal, meaningful, and musical. We believe in involving our children in our worship services as much as possible.
